Autopsies confirm 3 of 4 Liberty deaths homicides

PICKENS, S.C. (AP) — Pickens County officials say autopsies confirm that the deaths of three of four people at a house in Liberty last week were homicides.

Coroner Kandy Kelley says the fourth death requires additional tests.

Officials say a Liberty man, his two sons and their grandmother were shot to death at two homes Friday.

Kelley says 52-year-old Mark Wayne Hendricks was shot in the chest. Sixty-four-year-old Linda Ann Burns was shot in the abdomen. Twenty-year-old Marshall Wayne Hendricks was shot in the chest and stomach.

Kelley says she is awaiting toxicology reports and other tests are needed to determine how 23-year-old Matthew Wayne Hendricks died.

Sheriff’s Lt. Lane Byers says officers are still working on a motive.
