Berkeley County woman strangled; man arrested

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — A Berkeley County man has been arrested and charged with murder after a woman was found dead in her home.

Sheriff’s spokesman Dan Moon says deputies arrested 52-year-old David J. Penn of Bonneau (Bah-NO) Beach on Saturday.

Fifty-three-year-old Kathleen Chrastina was found dead in her home in Moncks Corner on Saturday.

Coroner Bill Salisbury says the woman was strangled. He says it’s not clear when she died.

It was not clear if Penn has a lawyer.
