NC man sentenced to 20 years in fatal SC shooting

YORK, S.C. (AP) — A North Carolina man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting he shot and killed his uncle at a home in Clover.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/oDDBuH ) that 25-year-old Otavis Bigger of Gastonia, N.C., pleaded guilty Tuesday to voluntary manslaughter.

Authorities say Bigger shot his uncle, 32-year-old Travis Bigger, four times in April.

Prosecutors say Otavis Bigger tried to drive away after the men began arguing, but ran his car into a brick well house. Bigger’s uncle came up to him after the wreck, and the argument began again, ending with the shooting.

Bigger apologized to his family at his sentencing.
