West Columbia Police Arrest Man in Connection with Hit and Run

(West Columbia) S.C. -– On November 5, 2011 the West Columbia Police Department had a traffic fatality that occurred during the early morning hours on N.12th Street. According to police, It appeared a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking northbound on the sidewalk. The vehicle then left the scene. The individual who was struck by the vehicle was identified by Coroner Harry O. Harmon of the Lexington County Coroner‘s Office as Dennis Keith Barfield, 53, of West Columbia. West Columbia Police have arrested Diedreich Adam Jackson, 29, and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Jackson is currently at the Lexington County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
