Deputies: Fight Over Money, Cause of Fatal Stabbing

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–Lexington County Sheriff‘s Department deputies on Sunday, December 4 arrested a 42-year-old Leesville man and charged him in connection with the fatal stabbing of his nephew. Deputies say the stabbing happened at a home on Two Notch Road near Leesville, where the two men rented separate bedrooms. The stabbing appears to be related to a dispute between the two men that concerned money, say Deputies. Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives on Sunday served arrest warrants on Juan Perez-Jeronimo, 42, of 5270 Two Notch Road, Leesville, on charges of murder and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Perez-Jeronimo was being held on Sunday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing. Specially trained correctional officers at the county Detention Center determined that Perez-Jeronimo, who was born in Guatemala, illegally entered the United States from a foreign country, Metts said. The correctional officers placed a detainer on Perez-Jeronimo with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), pending further action by ICE.
