Jeffery Ejected From Capital One Bowl

ORLANDO, FL (WOLO) — South Carolina junior wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was ejected from the Capital One Bowl on Monday for fighting with Nebraska defensive back Alfonzo Denard. Denard threw two punches at Jeffery in the third quarter after Jeffery was blocking Denard downfield. Jeffery, who is expected to be one of the top wide receivers picked in the 2012 NFL Draft finishes his Gamecock career 51 yards shy of becoming the SEC all-time leader in reception yards. He finishes with 3,042 yards receiving, Terrence Edwards of Georgia holds the record at 3,093. Jeffery finished the game with four receptions, a touchdown, and 148 yards. It’s Jeffery’s 12th 100-yard game of the season, which is a new Gamecock record previously held by Sidney Rice (11). Jeffery was later named the bowl’s MVP after the game.
