USC’s Jerideau Arrested

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Police say a South Carolina defensive lineman was arrested after he cursed at officers in Columbia’s Five Points bar district. Authorities say officers first approached 22-year-old Byron Jerideau after hearing him shout profanity at traffic as he tried to cross the street. A police report says when the officer asked Jerideau if he was jaywalking, the junior started cursing at him. Jerideau was charged with public disorderly conduct. He couldn’t be reached for comment. The arrest means Jerideau is immediately suspended from the team under athletic department policy while the incident is investigated. Copyright 2012 The Associated Press.
