Murder suspect back in SC from Dominican Republic

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — A man charged in a 2008 shooting death in Rock Hill has been returned to South Carolina from the Dominican Republic.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports ( ) that 24-year-old Carlos Luis Pinales-Mejia was brought to Rock Hill on Thursday, He is charged with murder in the killing of 22-year-old Amber Schiavone, and bond was denied Friday.

Agents with the U.S. Marshals Service found Pinales-Mejia in the Caribbean nation in May. Authorities have been trying to extradite him since.

Investigators say Schiavone was shot once in a Rock Hill apartment in January 2008.
