COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–Lexington County Sheriff‘s Department detectives on Friday, February 24 arrested a 24-year-old Swansea man and 21-year-old Denmark man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old man on February 12 at the 43-year-old man‘s home on Calhoun Road near Swansea. Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives in cooperation with the Columbia Police Department arrested Henry Norris Johnson, Jr., 24, of 110 Washington Court, Swansea, on arrest warrants on charges of murder, first-degree burglary and armed robbery. Johnson was being held on Saturday, February 25 at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing. At the time of his arrest, Johnson was a junior point guard on the Vorhees College men‘s basketball team. Detectives in cooperation with the Bamberg County Sheriff‘s Office arrested Justin K. Washington, 21, of 5576 Capernaum Road, Denmark, on arrest warrants on charges of murder, first-degree burglary and armed robbery. Detectives in cooperation with the Calhoun County Sheriff‘s Office previously arrested Patrick Sintell Larry, 31, of 393 Caldon Road, Swansea, on arrest warrants on charges of murder, first-degree burglary and armed robbery, Metts said.
Arrest warrants allege that on February 12 Johnson, Larry and Washington entered the home of Matthew Milhouse, Jr., 43, at 498 Calhoun Road while armed with a shotgun, Metts said. Milhouse was fatally shot in his upper leg during a drug-related robbery at his home. Detectives recovered a 20-gauge shotgun, and ballistic tests will be conducted to determine whether the shotgun was used to kill Milhouse. Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said preliminary results of an autopsy that was performed on February 13 show Milhouse died as a result of a gunshot wound to his upper leg. The Sheriff‘s Department received a report from a neighbor at about 2:42 a.m. on February 12 that Milhouse had been fatally shot at his home, Metts said.
