Kershaw County Gets Certified Polygraph Operator

CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) – Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews says he has finally met his goal of getting one of his deputies trained to operate a lie detector. Matthews said Lt. Danny Templar graduated Wednesday as a certified polygraph operator from the National Center for Credibility Assessment at Fort Jackson. The center usually just trains polygraph operators for federal agencies, but Matthews says he begged South Carolina’s U.S. senators and congressmen until they let his deputy into the classes. The sheriff says Templar is the only one of 33 graduates from his class that was not from the U.S. government.
