Cops: Burglar found dead in Spartanburg home

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Deputies say they are trying to figure out how a burglary suspect ended up dead at the bottom of some stairs in a Spartanburg County basement.

Investigators said officers responding to a burglary call around 8:45 a.m. Thursday found a broken window and a dead man and think the man is the same person who broke into the home.

Deputies and the coroner’s office are trying to figure out if the man died from falling down the stairs or some other reason. They have not released the man’s name because his family has not been notified.
