Witnesses Named in Haley Ethics Case

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ The House Ethics Committee has subpoenaed 10 people to testify in its investigation into allegations that Gov. Nikki Haley illegally lobbied while a member of the House. The list provided Thursday afternoon includes neither the Republican governor nor any legislator. The hearing is in two weeks. A complaint by John Rainey accuses Haley of illegally lobbying in her previous jobs as a fundraiser for a hospital and consultant for an engineering firm. Haley has repeatedly said she did nothing wrong. Witnesses called include officials with her previous employers, the former commissioner of the state’s health agency, lobbyists, and an attorney for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Rainey is last on the list. The committee approved the full list earlier Thursday after meeting behind closed doors. There was no public discussion.
