Gifted students studying science at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Middle and high school students are at Clemson University this week for enrichment programs in science, engineering and architecture.

The Summer Scholars Program began Monday and runs through Friday.

Students in 10th through 12th grades are studying biology, using DNA fingerprinting to identify suspects at a mock crime scene and learning about genetically modified foods.

Eleventh and 12th graders are learning about architecture by way of field trips to Greenville, Atlanta and Charlotte.

Students in 7th through 10th grades are building a robot that can detect and avoid obstacles and are studying how video games are developed.
