Take Your Dog to Work Day in Midlands

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO0 — Businesses across the Midlands increased the canine employment rate Friday, as a nationwide idea of taking your pet to work, is quickly catching on here at home. For Buster, Scout, Priscilla, Abby, Athens, Dixie and Captain, a day at Pincus Family Law in Columbia, meant less work for the attorneys and more play for them. The law practice is showing its support of Pawmetto Lifeline by participating in the 14th annual Take your Dog to Work Day, created by Pet Sitters International. Here, locally, Pincus and Well Pets Veterinary in Irmo law teamed up with the no-kill shelter to highlight the healing touch of man’s best friend for employees and clients. A recent study released by Virginia Commonwealth states the benefits of dogs in the workplace include reduced perceived stress and increased job satisfaction for staffers. On any given day, there are some 200 or so to cats and dogs choose from at Pawmetto Lifeline. The shelter’s goal is to “turn Columbia into a no-kill community, which means no healthy, adoptable pet is euthanized simply because it’s homeless.” While it may be nice and cute to think of bring your dog to work, the more serious message is bringing awareness about the number of homeless pets in the Midlands.
