Police: SCHP Cruiser Strikes, Kills Suspect

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – An attempted traffic stop turns deadly in Richland County. That’s according to the sheriff’s department. Investigators say the suspect fled from the South Carolina Highway Patrol Wednesday evening. It started in the eastbound lanes of I-20 and ended at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Pervical Road. Police say a South Carolina Highway Patrol cruiser struck and killed the suspect, who was traveling in the wrong direction. The trooper involved in the crash was not injured. The incident remains under investigation.
