Downtown Columbia Street Closed for 2 Weeks

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Midlands drivers may have to take an alternate route while traveling through Downtown Columbia. The South Carolina Department of Transportation gave the city permission to close a portion of Sumter Street. That’s from Wheat to Catawba Streets. It started yesterday and will last about two weeks. Officials say the closure is needed for pedestrian safety during maintenance and repair of the pedestrian bridge. Detours have been posted.
