Amazon’s Distribution Center Officially Opens for Business

(WOLO) LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — It may have taken more than a year to get to this point, but some say it was well worth the wait. The online retail giant, Amazon opening for business bringing with it a 100 million dollar investment for the state and some 2 thousand jobs. State Representative, Kenny Bingham said it was an”incredibly powerful day it is to finally be able to stand here on this site and think about the thousands of families who have a job. The thousands of families who have a place to go and to work.” Amazon Vice president , Michael Roth says he has been greeted with such a warm welcome by the state he not only invested in one distribution center, but two. A second being built in Spartanburg will be up and running by June of next year. Meanwhile, they’re focusing all of their efforts on filling this new location in Lexington. They’re off to a good start. So far, a thousand people have been employed by the online company, and officials say they plan to hire another thousand in the weeks to come.
