Lexington County Murder Investigation

Lexingtont, SC (WOLO)– Lexington County Sheriff‘s Department detectives are investigating the death of 72-year-old Robert Lewis Mitchell who was fatally shot on Saturday, July 28 at his home on Juniper Springs Road near Gilbert. Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives are pursuing leads concerning the identity of the person or persons who shot and killed Robert Lewis Mitchell, Sr., 72, of 1440 Juniper Springs Road. The circumstances of the fatal shooting as well as the motive for the fatal shooting remain under investigation. The Sheriff‘s Department received a call about the fatal shooting at about 9 a.m. on Saturday after Mitchell‘s son, found his father. Deputies found Robert Lewis Mitchell, Sr. lying on his back on a floor inside the residence. If you have any information you are asked to call crime stoppers.
