Arrest made after fatal shooting at Sumter party

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) — Investigators say they have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 47-year-old man at a Sumter party.

Police said they took 28-year-old Jarmon Martin into custody and charged him with murder around 6 p.m. Saturday.

About 18 hours earlier, authorities say Martin shot Jerry Ratchford twice after an argument at a party. When officers arrived, no one else was around.

Martin remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
