SC governor goes to Facebook to get message across

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says she almost always writes her own Facebook posts and uses the social media site to make sure she gets the information she wants to voters.

Haley posts to her Facebook page nearly daily on topics ranging from her favorite songs and what her son and daughter are doing to more weighty topics relating to her job.

The governor told The Post and Courier of Charleston (http://bit.ly/PXjIE3 ) that she likes having a direct connection with voters.

Haley says social media sites like Twitter and Facebook allow her to put issues in her own words, and allows her to bypass reporters, who often frustrate her.
