Woodruff firefighter arrested on DUI charge

WOODRUFF, S.C. (AP) — A volunteer firefighter in Woodruff has been arrested following a DUI charge.

Authorities say 22-year-old Jonathan Outz was arrested during a license check at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in Woodruff.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Outz was driving an SUV that is registered to the city of Woodruff. He was charged with driving under the influence and also faces a child endangerment because there was a 16-year old in the car with him.

Outz appeared before a judge on Sunday and was released from jail after posting a $3,000.

It wasn’t known if he had an attorney. Woodruff fire officials said Outz had been suspended from the department.
