CPD to Monitor Areas Prone to Collisions

The Columbia Police Department‘s (CPD) Traffic Safety Unit will conduct a Public Safety checkpoint in the areas of North Main Street, Farrow Road, The Vista, and Five Points beginning this evening. Officers will also be at or near the intersection of Farrow Road and Cindy Drive. These locations were selected based on traffic collisions that have occurred. Officers will check drivers of motor vehicles for driver’s license; they will also evaluate drivers for impairment. Any other violations of law may be observed. Every vehicle that enters the Public Safety Check Point will be stopped. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) and the Richland County Sheriff‘s Department (RCSD) will assist CPD in the effort.
