Citadel hires expert for sex case investigation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Citadel’s Board of Visitors has hired a Columbia attorney to handle the investigation into the school’s handling of a complaint about a former camp counselor now serving a 50-year sentence for molesting young boys.

Following an hour-long teleconference, the board unanimously voted to hire Joseph McCulloch to oversee the investigation.

Board member John Sams said McCulloch has no connection with The Citadel, has experience in higher education and has handled such investigations before. McCulloch has been asked to recommend a list of firms to help investigate how the college handled a 2007 complaint against counselor Louis “Skip” ReVille.

The complaint said ReVille showed pornography to young boys at The Citadel’s summer camp in 2002. The school did not notify police of the allegation at the time it was made.
