Man Dies After Struck By Train in Cherokee County
GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities are trying to identify a man who died after he was struck by a train in Cherokee County. Coroner Dennis Fowler says the man was lying on train tracks in Gaffney when an Amtrak train hit him at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The man had no identification on him, and Fowler says he is using the man’s fingerprints to try to learn his name. Authorities say the train traveling from New Orleans to New York was carrying nearly 200 passengers. No one on the train was hurt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
