I-26 cleared after fire blocks outbound lanes

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Traffic has resumed normal flow after an early morning wreck Friday caused serious backup on Interstate 26. The Highway Patrol reported a wreck on I-26 westbound at around mile marker 92, which is between the Peak and Chapin exits in Richland County. An SUV pulling a large trailer overturned and caught on fire, prompting officials to shut down all lanes heading toward Newberry County. Inbound lanes on I-26 eastbound were not directly affected, but traffic moving toward Columbia also was at a slow pace. As of 10:45 a.m., all traffic was flowing normally. There is no word on the condition of the driver. We will have more details as it becomes available online at ABCColumbia.com and on ABC Columbia News at Six.
