State Tourism Slowly Recovering

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., — Now that the summer season is beginning to wind down, new number show South Carolina tourism was solid. State officials say the amount of people coming to the Palmetto state has gone up slightly from last year. However, people are still a bit uneasy about the recession keeping some tourist from traveling too far from home. One of the reasons statistics are not up to the level they were prior to the turbulent economy. Officials say events like the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island last month which was televised around the world did help make an impact on State tourism. Source: Associated Press
