Officials from historic hotels in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Representatives from some of the nation’s most historic hotels are in Charleston. Historic Hotels of America was formed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation more than 20 years ago. Hotels must be at least 50 years old and be recognized as having historical significance and listed on or be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Members include such hotels as the Francis Marion and Wentworth Mansion in Charleston, the Hermitage in Nashville, Tenn. and the Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock, N.C. Officials say that such hotels, because of their affluent customers, weathered the Great Recession in a bit better shape than other hotels.
