Gas Prices Jump Overnight as we near Labor Day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Overnight prices at the pump spiked, as drivers near Labor Day. Here in the midlands we are averaging nearly 10 cents higher a gallon, than two weeks ago. Gas prices are up, increasing about a penny a day since the Fourth of July. The average price per gallon is now $3.57. That’s 19 cents more than gas was last Labor Day. AAA Carolinas predicts about 425,000 motorists will travel more than 50 miles from home during the five-day period starting Thursday and ending on Labor Day.
