Sheriff Lott: Security Guard Files False Report in Animal Case

COLUMBAI, SC (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says reports of dog and cat mutilation in the Spring Valley area are false. Deputies have charged a security guard with filing false reports in connection with the case. Wayne Alexander Crosby is charged with obstruction of justice. Sheriff Lott stated that Crosby was arrested at 11:40 AM on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Lott stated that during the initial investigation deputies determined that Crosby‘s story did not add up and that he was not forthcoming with the information he originally provided when he stated that animals were being killed in the Spring Valley subdivision. The Sheriff added that investigators began to research Crosby‘s account and after a thorough investigation, Crosby admitted he had lied and did file a false report. Lott says no animals were ever harmed or involved in the case.
