SC group seeks WWII, Korean vets for Honor Flights

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The group that’s sent more than 2,000 South Carolina World War II veterans on free tours of the Washington memorials erected in their honor is expanding its search for military veterans.

Honor Flight South Carolina organizer Bill Dukes says the group has begun taking applications from those who served in the Korean conflict. Dukes says they want as many World War II veterans as they can get for a flight scheduled for Nov. 7. If space is available, they will also take Korean veterans.

The tour takes in the memorial dedicated to those who served in World War II, as well as the Korean, Vietnam and Iwo Jima memorials. The tour also stops at Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknowns.
