Lowcountry Man Gets 40 years in 2009 Shooting
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) _ A Yemassee man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison in the 2009 shooting death of a man whose brother was also shot. The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (http://bit.ly/QgGUTX) that 31-year-old Brandon Green was convicted this week in the slaying of 23-year-old Dominick Badger following a two-day trial. Authorities say the shooting happened when a group of friends were in Badger’s backyard. There was an argument and Green pulled a .45-caliber handgun and shot Badger’s brother. When Dominick Badger then confronted Green, he in turn was shot twice in the chest and died at the scene. Authorities say Green ran away, but later turned himself in after changing his clothes and disposing of the gun.
