COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Even with fans’ reasons for leaving USC’s first home football game of the season early, which include 90 degree weather and a virtual blowout against East Carolina prior to half time, head football coach Steve Spurrier isn’t buying it. In his post-game interview with members of the press, Spurrier let it be known his disdain for fans leaving the game so early. He commented, ‘The party in the parking lot can wait, can’t it?’ He went on to say that even though the Gamecocks had a substantial lead over the Pirates in the first half, the opponents could have come back, and fans should have stayed until the end to see the team through. Reaction both from student and adult fans was varied. Some felt remourseful. While, others felt Spurrier was over-reacting.
