Bracelets Keep Missing Teen Case Alive

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — An updated flier and the sales of bracelets are two new components in the ongoing case of missing Midlands teenager, Gabrielle Swainson, both of which many in the community hope bring the 15-year-old home. When 14-year-old Mackenzie Thompson realized she had met 15-year-old Gabrielle Swainson when they were younger, and that Swainson is the same missing teenager she had seen on all the media outlets, she felt compelled to do something to keep Swainson’s name and face in the forefront of people’s minds. She and her friends decided to purchase and sell bracelets, which are blue and bear Swainson’s nickname ‘Gabbiee’ to try and raise funds for the return of Swainson and also to help Elvia Swainson, Gabrielle’s mother, with mounting bills. She and her friends decided to purchase and sell bracelets with the missing teenager’s nickname inscribed. They initially ordered 1,000, were shipped an extra hundred for free, and in two weeks’ time, at $2 each, only 20 are left. More have been ordered.
