Car Explosion at Recycling Plant

PROSPERITY, S.C. (WOLO) — The car explosion at a recycling plant in Prosperity has been deemed an accident. The explosion happened at PMR Recycling at 3709 Wheeland School Road at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Sheriff’s officials say a worker was moving a recycled car when it created a spark, and ignited gas fumes that were coming from a puncture in the gas tank. Authorities say this caused a small explosion and fire, subsequently setting three adjacent cars on fire. No one was injured.
