COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “Faith allowed her fellow co-workers to be by her side. Faith allowed an advanced cardiac ambulance to drive up before the first call for help went out,” says E.T. Taylor, Administrator on Duty at Palmetto Health Richland. Police say around 2:25 a.m. on September 16, 2012, Lindsay Biers, a cardiac nurse at Palmetto Health, was on a break when someone hit her near 4 Medical Park Drive, and kept driving. Monday, her family members and co-workers joined police to ask for help in finding those responsible. “She’s a nurse who helps saves other lives, she’s a person with a family and she is in need of our help,” says Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott. Police say right now they have little to go on, but they do know whoever hit Lindsay last Sunday, almost hit others just minutes before. Lindsay Biers is currently in critical condition, but her sister, Lauren MacKinnon, says she is fighting for life. “She is my only sister, she is my baby sister. I’m here to take care of her and I’m not leaving until she opens those eyes,” says Lauren MacKinnon. Her longtime boyfriend, Dan Powers, also attended Friday’s press conference. He says the news shocked him. “It’s another human being. I don’t know how you could do that to someone and just drive away and never admit it,” says Powers. All the family is asking for now is an answer. “Please do the right thing for Lyndsay, my sister, a daughter, an aunt, a friend, a girlfriend and a person,” says MacKinnon. A $5,000 reward is now being offered in the case. If you have any information, you are asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
