Precinct Problems: Vote 2012 means Long Lines

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Poll workers at some precincts in the midlands tell ABC Columbia News chaos was the order of the day as long lines greeted impatient voters. ABC Columbia news sent crews across the area from Lexington to Dutch Fork to Kilbourne Road, in an effort to report on voting scenarios Tuesday. At Ward 25 which is located at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church voters told ABC Columbia News they were waiting in line in excess of three hours, one poll manager told our crews they were down a voting machine. State Election Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire says he’s gotten reports Tuesday of very busy polling stations and a heavy turnout across the state. Long lines have been reported around Richland County and in Columbia, Whitmire says everyone in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Whitmire says workers must keep the polls open to accommodate such voters.
