Former Police Chief Hired By Richland Co. Sheriff’s Dept.

Columbia, SC (WOLO)– Days after resigning from his post as Chief of the Columbia Police Department, Randy Scott has been hired by the Richland Co. Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Leon Lott says Scott will joint the department with the rank of Inspector and be paid $40,000/year. On April, 22nd Scott announced his resignation from the Columbia Police Department citing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder stemming from the death of a deputy in 2005. Prior to his tenure as chief, Scott served as a deputy with the Richland Co. Sheriff’s Department. In his new role, Sheriff Lott says Scott will be assigned to work with the community and helping further develop the Department‘s leadership training program.
