Maxcy Gregg Pool Opens Soon!

(WOLO) Columbia, SC-City of Columbia Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the grand reopening of Maxcy Gregg Pool on Saturday, May 25, at 10 a.m. The department will celebrate the grand reopening with a special dedication ceremony and reception on Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m. The community is invited to tour the new facility during this time. Then, from 8 to 10 p.m. that evening, Parks and Recreation will host a special “Dive-In Theatre”. Doors will open at 7 p.m. This family friendly event will feature the movie Shark Tales. The cost is $2 for ages 12 and under, $3 for ages 13 and older. Concessions will be available. The grand reopening comes after the completion of a year-long project to replace the old pool with a new 25 yards by 50 meters, competition size pool and the remodeling of the bathhouse, which includes new showers, bathrooms and office space. In addition, a new pump house was constructed to accommodate a state-of-the-art filtration system that will help to lower maintenance costs and a new portable ADA hydraulic lift for swimmers with physical challenges is now available. The pool will maintain its existing fee structure for recreational swim, offer seasonal passes and special group swim passes as well as morning and evening swim lessons and swim team opportunities.
