South Congaree Folo

(WOLO) Columbia, SC- A small Lexington County town has had its mayor, a council member, the police chief and the town administrator resign since a raid on Town Hall at the beginning of May. South Congaree Mayor Jerry McCormick was the latest to leave office Thursday. He says the raid on May 1 by the FBI and State Law Enforcement Division made it difficult to do town business. Agents have refused to say why they raided Town Hall or what they were looking for. Council member Lila Gantt is acting as mayor until a special election can be held in the town of 2,600 people just southwest of Columbia. She says she gave the remaining town employees a pep talk. She says the resignations will allow the town to have a new start.
