Pickup driver charged after hitting SC school bus

SANTEE, S.C. (AP) — A Bamberg man is facing a traffic charge after his pickup truck rear-ended a school bus, sending several children and the bus driver to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/11egClC ) that 59-year-old John Dickinson hit the back of a school bus that had stopped on Friday afternoon to let children off at a bus stop in Santee.

The bus driver and at least six children were treated at a local hospital after complaining of back and neck pain.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Dickinson was charged with driving too fast for conditions. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
