Bamberg County’s 1st 2013 homicide is investigated

DENMARK, S.C. (AP) — A 20-year-old Denmark man has been found dead in what authorities say is the first homicide of the year in Bamberg County.

The coroner’s office told The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg (http://bit.ly/11pdFSB ) that Archie Baldwin’s body was found under an empty home in Denmark on Saturday, five days after he disappeared.

Investigators say Baldwin’s mother told deputies that someone who was with her son the day he disappeared said they were running from a gunman

Bamberg County Coroner Billy Duncan says Baldwin was shot once in the back.

No arrests have been made.
