SC homeowner won’t be charged in break-in shooting

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a homeowner who shot and killed a man who broke into his home in Orangeburg will not he charged.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Tuesday that the homeowner was justified when he shot and killed 21-year-old DeShawn Randolph.

Authorities say Randolph used shovel to break a back window of a home around 11 p.m. on May 26. Deputies say the homeowner grabbed a gun and shot down the hallway.

Ravenell says an autopsy and other evidence support the homeowner’s right to defend his property.
