(WOLO) Columbia, SC-Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has announced the arrest of Diana Perry (DOB: 01/30/1960) charged with unlawful entry into enclosed spaces, felony larceny. Sheriff Leon Lott says Perry was arrested Wednesday, June 12, 2013 by Richland County Sheriff‘s Department Investigators after committing an early morning crime on Shop Road and Andrews Road. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that just after 5:00 AM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 1239 Andrews Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29201 Richland County Sheriff‘s Deputies responded to a call of shots being fired. Deputies were able to determine the victim of the residence heard Perry attempting to steal copper from his air conditioning unit; the victim grabbed his weapon and confronted Perry who came towards him – fearing for his life the victim fired a shot striking Perry in the upper body. Perry fled the area and was apprehended by Deputies a short distance away then transported to Palmetto Health Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Investigators were able to determine that Perry and an unknown male suspect had recently attempted to burglarize a business located at 1148 Shop Road (OmniSource Corporation) just prior to ending up on Andrews Road. The Sheriff says Perry has a long history of burglarizing businesses and stealing copper, and that it is a relief to have her off the streets and behind bars where she belongs. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Perry will be transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center upon release from the hospital.
