Neighborhood Surveys

(WOLO) Columbia, SC-Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago announces that a second set of neighborhood surveys designed to gather feedback regarding the Columbia Police Department is slated to arrive in mailboxes this week. The first 4,000 surveys were sent to the public on May 20, 2013. The second set should arrive in the mail today and tomorrow in several City of Columbia neighborhoods has partnered with the University of South Carolina (USC) to implement this datadriven approach to policing. The initiative is made possible with the aid of a Smart Policing Grant. The survey is designed to gather input from residents on a variety of topics including: the fear of crime, presence of gangs, drug activity, burglaries, traffic concerns, contact/relationship with CPD and police officers, satisfaction with CPD and police officers, neighborhood cohesion and demographic information.
