Hole found in another I-77 bridge in York County
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Inspectors have found another hole in the deck of a bridge on Interstate 77.
The Department of Transportation said two southbound lanes of the I-77 bridge over the Catawba River in Rock Hill will close Wednesday for the emergency repairs. Crews hope to reopen the lanes by Monday.
Less than a month ago, crews fixed a hole in a bridge on the northbound lanes.
The discovery of the first hole prompted DOT to inspect all I-77 bridges starting at the North Carolina state line and heading south to Columbia. Officials say the latest hole about 8 miles south of the state line was found during those inspections.
Crews will continue to inspect I-77 bridges heading south to Columbia over the next several days.
