City of Columbia Delays Decision on Randolph Charges

Columbia, SC (WOLO)– Attorneys for the City of Columbia say they need more time to review evidence involving state president Lonnie Randolph. A hearing finished up Friday morning, in which Randolph’s attorney motioned that all charges be dropped, citing his client was experiencing a diabetic episode, not criminal behavior, when he was taken into custody. Thursday video of that arrest was released. Randolph is seen being put into a patrol car for resisting arrest, according to police officers. He was charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest after an altercation with police because he allegedly didn’t pay for his dry cleaning and caused a scene. Randolph claims his teeth were knocked out, his lip cut and his left arm bruised during the incident. His attorney claims Randolph’s behavior was the result of his client’s diabetic illness. City attorneys did not indicate when their review of the evidence will be complete.
