Columbia Police Investigate Deadly Shooting

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —

Columbia Police need your help searching for a gunman suspected in an early Sunday morning shooting.

According to authorities, a woman was a rising as a passenger in a car when she was shot in the head and killed along West Campenella Drive. Police say the make driver called 9-1-1 after hearing the shots and seeing the female passenger. She was transported to an area hospital but died a few hours later.

Officials spent Sunday afternoon at the crime scene collecting evidence and searching for a possible motive to the shooting.

Chief Ruben Sanitago says The violence must end. ” The person or persons responsible for this senseless death will be caught and held accountable for what has happened. CPD is gathering evidence and it is only a matter of time before someone is charged with murder.”
