Columbia walking to prevent domestic violence

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” Columbia is putting on a walk to raise awareness of the need to prevent domestic violence. South Carolina’s capital city is scheduled to host the 7th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence at Finlay Park on Saturday. Organizers say the free walk is in support of people struggling with the issue and reminds others never to give up hope in stopping the violence. Last year, the Violence Policy Council ranked South Carolina second in the nation for the rate of women killed by men. The state Attorney General’s Office says more than 36,000 people annually report a domestic violence incident to law enforcement agencies around South Carolina.
