Food Stamps Changes

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —
The Department of Social Services says two changes are coming to the federal SNAP program beginning this fall. Starting October 1st, 2013 anyone getting money under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will see an increase in their benefits for one month.
Just as the temporary increase from the stimulus packages expire lowering the amount of money residents will receive by an estimated 20 dollars every month. Officials say that is only an estimate and is hard to say for sure how each individual family will be impacted until they have a chance to look at the size of your household and your expenses.
If your benefits are going to change, DSS says they will notify you by mail. You will not be able to appeal a federal mandate change but if you feel an error has occurred the Department of Social Services will allow you to request a review of your benefits package.
You can find out more information about your account balance by going to the DSS website at:
www.ebtaccount.jpmorgan.com or by calling the number on the back of your EBT card.
