Panel to discuss civil right history and future

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Democrats are holding a town hall to discuss the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march on Washington and what needs to happen with race relations in the U.S. in the future. The panel is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Benedict College in Columbia. New South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jamie Harrison will host the town hall, along with House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford. Panelists include retired Chief Justice Ernest Finney, current Supreme Court justice Donald Beatty, state Sen. Gerald Malloy and state Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter.
